Adams County Jail Roster
The official adult roster channel is the Adams County Daily Population Sheet, linked from the Adams County Jail page. The county says the sheet is updated each morning around 6:00 a.m. and is not considered accurate throughout the day. That warning matters. A person booked after the morning print, released before the next print, transferred to another agency, or held under a restricted category may not be answered by the PDF alone.
The Daily Population Sheet is a current population report, not a released-inmate archive. It does not have profile pages, date filters, wildcard search, or a recent bookings tab in the inspected source. It serves the reader who needs to check whether an adult is listed in Adams County Jail custody and then use the listed charge, bond, court date, time, and courtroom to confirm the next step with the jail or court.
Search Adams County Inmate Records
Because the roster is a static PDF, the practical search tool is the browser or PDF viewer. Search exact spelling first, then try partial last names, suffixes, hyphenated names, first names, AC numbers, charge words, and court dates. Rows can wrap across lines when charges are long, so read the whole entry before assuming a second line belongs to a new person.
- Start at the Adams County Jail official page and open the Daily Population Sheet under the inmate list or population report link.
- Check the printed date at the top of the PDF to make sure the sheet is current enough for the question.
- Use PDF find for the person's last name, first name, AC number, charge text, or court date.
- Review the full row for the front mugshot column, name, AC number, charges, bond, court date, time, and courtroom.
- Call the jail at 217-277-2202 if the person may have been booked or released after the morning update.
Adams County Roster Search Fields
The Adams County inmate records source does not expose a form like many jail vendors do. That is the central local difference. Users can still search the text of the PDF, but there is no official Adams County field for date of birth, booking number, facility filter, charge class, arrest date, or release status.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| None | Static PDF | N/A | No county search box. Browser or PDF find is used instead. |
| Front Mugshot | Roster column | N/A | Column header indicates a booking-photo area. |
| Last, First Name | Roster column | N/A | Names appear in surname-first order in the inspected PDF. |
| AC # | Roster value | N/A | Local jail identifier, such as AC # 13062. |
| Charges / Bond / Court | Roster columns | N/A | Shows custody charge text, bond amount if shown, court date, time, and courtroom. |
Adams County Inmate Profile Fields
The population sheet row is the public profile. The research captured examples with firearm, methamphetamine, driving, domestic battery, sex-offender registration, parole/MSR, and bail-bond violation language. Some bond fields were blank, some showed $0.00, and some showed dollar amounts. A bond field is not a full release order, and a court date on the sheet is not the whole court docket.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Front Mugshot | Current roster photo column, if the PDF image renders. |
| Last, First Name | Person's name in public roster format. |
| AC # | Adams County local jail identifier. |
| Charges | Custody charge names and often Illinois statutory citations. |
| Bond | Amount if published; verify release eligibility with the jail or court. |
| Court Date / Time / Courtroom | Next listed court setting, not the full case docket. |
Not shown in the extracted roster text: date of birth, age, race, sex, height, weight, arresting agency, booking date or time, housing pod, release date, and profile history.
Confirm Adams County Custody
The roster is a strong starting point, but it is not a real-time custody answer. For same-day confirmation, call Adams County Jail at 217-277-2202. For police reports or booking-related records not online, the Sheriff's FAQ directs people to the Records Division at 217-277-2200 and notes that a nominal fee may apply. Some reports can be withheld because of privacy laws or an active investigation.
In-person visits to the courthouse area also require attention to which office is needed. Jail custody questions route to the Vermont Street jail contact, while police-report copies route through the Sheriff's Records Division and court-file questions route through the Circuit Clerk. The official sources use nearby 521, 535, and 537 Vermont Street addresses for different parts of the courthouse and jail complex, so a records errand, bond payment, visit, and court appearance may not use the same entrance.

County, State, and Federal Inmates
An Adams County jail roster search covers the local adult jail population. It does not replace the state prison locator, the federal locator, the immigration locator, or juvenile court channels. The jail page also says it cannot confirm U.S. Marshals inmate information and directs those inquiries to 217-429-4227, while the U.S. Marshals Central District of Illinois page lists the Springfield office at 217-492-4430.
VINELink is another channel for custody-change notification, not a substitute roster. It is useful when a family member or victim needs notice of release, transfer, escape, death, or out-to-court movement after the correct custody system has been identified. For Adams County, that means starting with the county PDF for local adult jail custody, then switching to IDOC, BOP, ICE, or court channels when the record points outside the county jail.
| Custody Question | Lookup Channel | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| Adult in Adams County Jail | Daily Population Sheet and jail phone | Current local custody and next court setting |
| Sentenced state prisoner or parolee | IDOC Individual in Custody Search | Current IDOC custody, parole, parent institution, sentencing data |
| Federal sentenced prisoner | BOP inmate locator | Federal custody from 1982 to present |
| Immigration detainee | ICE ODLS | Current ICE custody or CBP custody over 48 hours |
Charges, Bond, and Courtroom
The jail record is only one side of the case. If the row lists a court date, courtroom, or charge that needs formal docket confirmation, use the Adams County Circuit Clerk's Judici link. The Circuit Clerk warns that suppressed, impounded, or confidential records may not be viewed online. If Judici does not show the case, the clerk's office can be reached at 217-277-2100 or circuitclerk@adamscountyil.gov.
For the court side of a booking, see Adams County court records after jail arrest. For the booking photo column and records-request route, see Adams County jail mugshots.
Visitation and Record Details
Roster confirmation often comes before a visit, phone setup, mail, or commissary deposit. Adams County uses CTEL/CPC/InmateSales for communications and video visits. The jail says on-site video visits are scheduled daily between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., remote video visits are available between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., and both are blocked from 11:00 a.m. to noon and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for meals. Visits must be scheduled at least 24 hours ahead.
| Service | Published Detail | Where to Start |
|---|---|---|
| On-site video visit | Daily 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., meal blocks excluded | Public terminal, inmatesales.com, or 1-877-998-5678 |
| Remote video visit | 6:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., meal blocks excluded | Computer or mobile device through InmateSales |
| Phone access | Section phones 9:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m. | CTEL/CPC account support |
| Commissary funds | JailATM and east Jail Visitation entrance kiosk | Kiosk, JailATM.com, or help line |
Roster Terms in Adams County
Several terms on jail and court records have plain meanings that help avoid mistakes. A booking is the jail intake event. An AC number is the local Adams County jail identifier. Bond is a court release condition, not proof that release is available at the printed amount. A detainer is another agency hold. IDOC means the Illinois Department of Corrections, which is separate from the county jail.
- PR Bond
- Release based on a promise and court conditions rather than full cash payment.
- Parole/MSR
- Mandatory supervised release or parole after prison, which may create a hold or violation case.
- Classification
- Jail housing and security decision based on risk, charge, behavior, and health needs.
- EHD
- Electronic Home Detention, an Adams County alternative that requires approval and has a daily cost.
